Vancouver Film School

Your Review:

I recently completed the EBM program. I would urge you all to avoid VFS at all costs. It is true that you get out of it what you put into it, but there are several people who put in a lot of hard work and ended up with dick all. For A LOT of money. I myself was debt free when I came here and now I will be in debt for most of my remaining adult years. that was my decision to make and I stand by it, but I would have liked to have graduated believing that I got anything CLOSE to an education worthy of that lifetime of debt. I cannot speak for the other programs, but EBM is a mess. Repetitive and somewhat vague and disorganized curriculum, teachers that may or may not be qualified to teach what they are teaching (one teacher admitted openly to having no experience in the subject matter of the course he was teaching). We get no text books, no internship, a mentor who is only allowed to speak with us for two hours in regards to our final project, no field trips to recording studios and agencies (as promised and boasted about on the admissions website), and worst of all, no one who cares to give you the time to listen to your concerns.
I worked very hard, maintained an 83% average, and tried my best to work with the heads of the program to improve it. In the end, I felt like a number and a receipt instead of a person. If they spent even a fraction of the money they spend on advertising their school on the curriculum and on making it better for the students that paid a fortune to be there, it would be exponentially better. But it seems that VFS's main concern is getting more tuition money and more capital for their investors. I have met a few former students from different programs on flights home to visit family over the last year, and they said the same thing. One former 3D student actually said that he and his classmates considered a lawsuit.
To sum up, I did learn a few things but not enough to make me a useful employee to anyone and certainly not enough to make the tuition fee worth it. I think it is a rip off and I would recommend looking elsewhere.
