Review:
The school just opened in 2007 and the overall look and feel of the school is great.
It's a 2 year, 40 hour a week program.
From screenwriting, storyboarding and pre-visualization to lighting, cinematography and using state-of-the-art film and high definition cameras, Flashpoint’s Film Program allows you to step into every role of a production. Student's benefit from an intensive hands-on experience in all aspects of directing as you take the reins of an in-progress film production. Then immerse yourself in other areas of Flashpoint's curriculum as you edit, post-produce and sound design a finished film.

So this review is literally
So this review is literally copied and pasted from the school's website. Go there and click on the film option under programs. I don't know about you, but I'd like to hear from someone who actually IS GOING THERE as opposed to the PR people from the school.
Lying scum from FP
This is the same advertising bull@#!$ that I've been reading and hearing from other websites, and from people that I've met and know. Friends (who actually took the tours) tell me that this school "Flashpoint" doesn't have anything to prove themselves as a trust worthy school. That the school could actually fall into bankruptcy...
And it's true that the PR people to Flashpoint are making and selling their school as the king of the town. Even when I took the tour myself, to see if they are really that corrupted, it turned out to true. They, the school faculty, were being prudent and untruthful. For each time I would ask a question about their school, compared to our art schools in Chicago, they told me that "we can offer a better experience for you..." They even said that the school is better equipt to teaching students than any other art program teachers.
I later took a tour over that Illinois Institute of Art - Schaumburg, to see if their programs and faculty were any better. They were, their programs seemed far more better than the ones over at Flashpoint. And the faculty over their school was pleasant and kind. Not to mention, very helpful.
So, to answer any questions on where to attend to a arts school in Chicago, I would siggest the Illinois Institute of Art, Columbia, ect; a school that meets with your requirerments.
I totally agree with you.
I totally agree with you. I'm tired of all this false info they (the PR people) keep on posting. I want proof from actual students - and from students whom are not controlled by the school itself.
Typical
Hahaha! That is great... someone is learning how not to advertise.
looks like they changed their PR text...
looks like they changed their PR text on their website now...
From a real student
I'm a real student at Flashpoint, and here's what I have to say. First, Flashpoint doesn't "control" us, or whatever that's supposed to mean. I don't know how anyone expects a school that just opened last year to be perfect. There are and always will be kinks to be worked out in any educational institution. The Illinois Institute of Art in Schaumburg opened in 1983 and Columbia College over 100 years before that. I'm going to bet that it took them a couple years to get things running seamlessly.
I started in September 2007, and I've enjoyed every moment I've spent there. I'm studying film editing, and the facilities are spectacular. They have very powerful Avid and Final Cut Pro labs, as well as stand alone Avid and Final Cut suites. We also learned how to use the industry standard Unity and ISIS systems early on. The classes are small compared to most other colleges, there's about a 15:1 student teacher ratio in almost all of my classes.
And in my opinion, "Lying scum" is a huge exaggeration. When I took the tour there, not once did they say, "We offer a better experience." What they did say was, "Our approach is different, and this is why." Remember that Flashpoint is a two year program, which in my eyes says that a different approach to teaching and learning should be taken regardless of who's method is "better". It might not be perfect for everybody, but Flashpoint is great for me and meets my requirements as a student. I'm so happy to be there, and wouldn't go to any other film school in Chicago.
