LAFS

So I am currently a student at University of Iowa in Iowa City. But next year I plan on heading back to my hometown outside of Chicago to complete my Associate's Degree. After that, I want to head out to California to start at Film School. I'm not some amateur who wants to make it big in the industry, and I've been planning this for year and years.
So anyways, I was wondering if anyone has any insight to the Los Angeles Film School? I know it is a 10 month program, but is it worth it? Or should I be looking at AFI or USC or UCLA instead? I'd much rather go to a school where I can skip the gen eds and get straight to what I want to do, which is why I've been looking at LAFS. Plus I feel like I can integrate myself into the industry while going to school at LAFS. But maybe I'm wrong...
If anyone has any advice for me that would be amazing. Thanks!

Re:LAFS

Think of LAFS as a trade school. You can't get a teaching credential from there, you can only pick up some skills and get some experience with goofy student films. The education is kind of a joke, and if you want to learn something, it won't be in one of their classrooms. Which isn't to say you can't learn a lot there. You can certainly learn how dysfunctional Hollywood is.

If you want to work in editing/sound, it's not a terrible idea (although expensive). If you want to direct or shoot, grit your teeth and get an MFA from NYU, SC, or AFI, where you will end up with a selection of short films and a ton of great contacts.

On the whole, I think LAFS is just another moneymaking deal - education definitely comes a distant second there.
