When things go wrong

Hi, I'm a film student and I am currently trying to do a short film for a class. Things were going well, had most of my characters casted, my locations were all at school, and so on. But all of a sudden things are going horribly wrong. Actors are dropping out, having scheduling issues, and it's all just becoming overwhelming. I have less than a month and a half to pull all of this together. I was wondering if there were any of you that ever experienced the same situation. What suggestions can you give me on how you handled it. Or anything thing else that could help really.

I'd really appreciate it.

Actors dropping out, people

Actors dropping out, people telling you now that you can't film in their restaurant, that camera you wanted to rent is no longer available-it's all part and parcel. Just work at it. Find a way. Keep looking for locations, don't worry if some of your actors are amateurs-even asking a talentless friend is better than nothing! Work around it-pressure people to come on a certain date, and if they can't, find someone else! You're just starting out, so no-one will judge you if it's a little amateur. Prioritise the scenes that are the most important to you, and make sure they go well, and get out of the way scenes which don't really matter. Don't despair if you don't complete it as you would like. Editing can fix problems and few directors get their mind's eye view, those that become obsessed with it often fail (eg. Heaven's Gate.). It's stressful, it's difficult, so just get a little rest every so often, breathe deep a little and don't lose your resolve.

Thanks! I really appreciate

Thanks! I really appreciate the hints and pointers. I've taken on a new resolve now. Just going to have fun making the project and whatever comes out of it will be a learning experience if nothing else.
