I found the entire course absolutely fantastic. Was very practical based and it ran more like a production house than a school. The classes had a max of 20, and the teachers were great, and the equipment was well up with the industry standard.

In Certificate 3 and 4 you learn about all aspect of film and TV production, Cinematography, Direction, Production Management, Sound, On-line Editing, Digital Media and set design. In the final Diploma year you choose your major –

I chose Producing. Throughout the course you produce between 18 and 22 productions.

I was very impressed with the difference between my first production and my final Diploma production – something I am very proud of – it has made it into many world wide film festivals.

Avoid at all costs

I'd avoid this place. The owners are a grumpy couple with their minds on their money. You pay 10 grand a year and the wife gets the sh-ts when you ask to borrow a ruler. You pay 10 grand a year and are still expected to fork up money for the shoots. You pay 10 grand and you don't get to see your complete results after tests, only your score. You pay 10 grand and still nobody on a set will hire you because the school isn't well respected and the industry is in the sh-t. I'm fully qualified, but my friend who worked at maccas got a job with channel 7 as a boom operator because his brother was a cameraman. No surprise he didnt make it to his 2nd week. In regards to APA, when I complained about some of their underhandedness, my grades began to sink strangely enough. Shame i couldnt see exactly where i went wrong tho as you never get your tests back. Dodgy, dodgy, dodgy...
