hi everyone! I'm new to the filming scene and was wondering if anyone knew the best way to do a flying effect with adobe premiere? I have a green screen and all the proper lighting and I know how to use the green screen, but making my actors fly is a bit confusing. If anyone could give me a tip on what materials to use then that would be great! thanks, bubba

From watching them do it on sets, the actor wears a harness and is suspended with cables that are painted green as well. Make sure NO ONE wears any green at all...LOL. Sometimes there's an E-fan for wind effects if outdoors. As far as lighting goes, I'll defer to the Captain for that.
Re: green screen help
I can't exatly put a harness in the space im filming in, I heard you can use a box and paint it green?
Re: green screen help
I would try a single legged swivel stool. I'm assuming you're going for the superman style flying. In this case, just have the actor lie stomach down on the stool and hold his legs and arms up. I would defintly use some sort of fan to make hair and clothes flap. Go ahead and paint the stool green and then light it so that there is no difference in f/stop between the background greenscreen and the stool. There also can be no shadows. You have to light this sucker so that when you walk into the room you can't see the stool. A spot meter is handy here, so is a waveform monitor and at the very least you need an incident meter. --Trey
Re: green screen help
Chroma keying only have two problems uneven lighting on the chroma key backdrop and the reflected spill on the foreground object. Here are a few tips on how to light your chroma key backdrop. * When lighting your chroma key green screen backdrop, make sure the lighting is even with no hot spots or shadows. Your backdrop lights should be located on either the side or on the back of the subject you are taking video or picture of. You can either use a Quartz light on stand or you can soften the light on your foreground subject. * You should light the foreground subject using a separate light. Do not use the same light used on your chroma key backdrop for the subject. Though the blue or green must be lit evenly, this is not true for the subject. You can actually light the subject dramatically however the trick is not to screw up the chroma key background. This will also reduce the reflective spill *blue or green fringe from the light that is reflected off the chroma key backdrop around your subject. Make sure that your subject does not contain the same color as your chroma key backdrop. * Neutralize any color cast by using a soft back-light on each side of the subject to help neutralize the reflective spill from your chroma key backdrop.
