Resurrecting a dinosaur

Anybody aver use an old sony ccd-v8af? It s cool little 'ol Video 8 camera with manual/auto focus and zoom... got it for a five bucks at a garage sale today. I'm really drooling over a Canon XL2, working three years with my Canon 550i(UK numbers, don't know the model of the US version), and very ready for an upgrade, but can't afford it. Wonder if its worth my time to play around with this old sony for laughs and lessons... no idea what the image would be like or the basic features. What would i be doing with it? Documentary making gets me excited, as well as being a film/art guy... weird and waky with a message is my way... Any opinions on whether I should toy with this dino?

Yeah, don't let it just sit there. You spent so little on it that you can afford to put it into hazardous situations that you might hesitate to do with a nicer camera. So strap it to the front bumper of a car or throw it off a building and work that into a movie some how. --Trey

CCD-V8AF Owner's manual?

I recently bought this camera on Ebay for $20. It's like brand new, not a mark on it. My research led to the discovery that this particular model is a collector's item. The V7 had manual focus, and the V8, was one of the first Automatic Focus 8mm cameras.
Alas, all I really require is an owner's/operator's manual. I know it's kind of late in the game, but, would you still have the manual? If so, willing to part with it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. The only manuals available are on CD, or PDF for download. Original is the key word here.
Thanks!
